Menparekraf Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno launched the Tourist Information Center (TIC) at Dortheys Hiyo Eluay Airport (DJJ) as an effort to provide information facilities for tourists visiting Jayapura, Papua, (5/7/2023).

Traveldiva — Dortheys Hiyo Eluay Jayapura Airport now has a Tourist Information Center (TIC) to make it easier for tourists. This TIC is an initiative of the Jayapura Regency government in an effort to provide information facilities for tourists visiting Jayapura.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno appreciates the innovative steps taken by the Jayapura Regency Government in making it easy for tourists to get information services about tourist destinations, accommodation, to interesting events in Jayapura Regency. So tourists can plan their trips well.

“I congratulate Pj. The Regent and all staff because this is an innovation that is very helpful in getting information on both tourist attractions and accommodation and events. Everything has been summarized and all that remains is to scan the barcode, this is one of the first in the districts throughout Indonesia,” Sandiaga said.

In this service, the Jayapura District Government has a complete database of tourist attractions, including description, peta, opening hours, recommendation, to booking a tour guide. This will certainly be very beneficial for tourists who want to plan their own trips.

“This Tourist Information Center service will not only be at the arrival location (Bandara Dortheys Hiyo Eluay), but will also share it on social media. Because social media is the easiest for us to share information to attract more tourist visits,” said Sandiaga.

Menparekraf Sandiaga hopes that through TIC services it can encourage the targeted movement of domestic tourists 1,4 billion in years 2023. Because every movement of domestic tourists will have an economic impact on the local community.

“And the employment target that we will achieve in 2024 is 4,4 million is very likely to be achieved if all districts in Indonesia have the same innovation,” he said.

Pj. Regent of Jayapura, Tricolor Purnomo, expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation for Menparekraf Sandiaga's willingness to launch the Tourist Information Center in Jayapura.

“This is a motivation for economic actors and tourism actors, especially in Jayapura Regency in order to improve the economy and development of Jayapura,” said Triwarno.

Accompanying the Menparekraf in launching the TIC included the Special Staff of the Menparekraf for Security of Tourist Destinations and Strategic Issues of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Brigadier General Ario Prawiseso; Director of National and International Events Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Dessy Ruhaty; and Plh. Papuan governor, Ridwan Rumasukun.
