Mount Semeru reportedly erupted on Saturday, 4 December 2021 around o'clock 15.00 WIB. Avalanche hot cloud eruption (APG) soar into space to reach 11 kilometer. The incident had made the sky in Lumajang Regency turn dark because it was filled with volcanic ash. BNPB explained that the eruption had an impact on a number of villages in two sub-districts.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that there were several tourist villages affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java. There are as many 12 Tourist villages are also affected by the Semeru eruption, including the Bamboo Forest Tourism Village, Tirto Sari View Village Tourism, Mount Wayang Tourism Village, Pronojiwo Tourism Village, Ranupani Village, Senduro village, and Sitisundari Village. The damage that occurred started from damaged road access to tourist attractions covered in volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Semeru.

Minister Sandiaga Uno in his speech at the Weekly Press Briefing, hope that the eruption of the mountain will recover soon because there are three leading tourist sites that can boost business and the economy around the Bromo Tengger Semeru area (BTS) These are Malang Regency and Malang City, then stone city, and of course Lumajang itself is based on ecotourism. He also said the mountaineering-based tourism sector would also be affected.

Therefore, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy crisis management team (Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy) is also working to carry out various treatments ranging from a quick and precise assessment of the location, damage, loss, and resources. Sandiaga said his party was coordinating donations and assistance through joint movements (giver) Parekraf Cares. As well as working with relevant parekraf actors to help deal with stress and trauma recovery.

in the future, the government will carry out a Tourism and Creative Economy Crisis Management policy which is implemented by coordinating and collaborating with BNPB, BPBD, Government tourism office, and other stakeholders to jointly carry out several strategic steps for assistance to the population affected by the eruption.
