TRAVELDIVA – Celebrating its sixth anniversary this month, WINGS Therapy Center (WINGS) is a leading therapy center in Southeast Asia for babies to young adults. WINGS is one of the few therapy centers that operates under the Intensive Therapy Model framework (AGAINST). Located in Singapore, WINGS has handled more than 6000 patient to date. From 6000 the patient, 50% among them are foreigners who fly to Singapore from all over Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, for treatment at this unique therapy center.

This therapy center is one of the few centers in Asia and the world that provides innovative specialty therapies under one roof by implementing the Intensive Therapy Model (AGAINST) to provide therapies such as Suit Therapy (NeuroSuit™ and TheraSuit Method®), Latihan Spider Cage, Universal Exercise Unit, Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), Medek Exercises® Caves (CME), Intensive Walking Workout with LiteGat, Robotic Walking Training with Trexo Robotics, Task Specific Electrical Stimulation (CUPS), and many more.

“My child had to undergo chemotherapy because of leukemia. The treatment lasts for 9 month and this impacted most of his abilities and made it difficult for him to walk. It is a blessing for us to get help from WINGS. Julia and her team were amazing. They are committed, upbeat and lots of fun. Valerie underwent various intensive treatments before we decided to move to Singapore so that Valerie could attend regular therapy at WINGS. I don't think there is a similar therapy service in Indonesia. WINGS are truly unique, not only in their methods but also in how they treat each child holistically. I've never seen anything like this anywhere in Asia! We are grateful that Valerie can now walk, running, cycling, and climb the stairs. After 5 years of intensive therapy, we moved back to Jakarta in 2022 so Valerie can go to school. We continued to travel to WINGS during his school holidays. In fact, we will carry out the next intensive treatment in April 2024 to come, said Riza Legowo, mother of six year old Valerie from Jakarta, Indonesia.

WINGS was started by a mother, Julia, and his son with special needs, Jake, in the year 2017. Jake is diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic mutation (NACC1), which influences Jake to walk, speak, and difficulty living an independent life. He was also born with congenital cataracts in both eyes. When Jake was only four months old, he experienced approx 1000 daily seizures and failure to reach early developmental stages. That's when Julia was told that her child might never walk, speak, or live independently. This inspired Julia and Jake throughout 10 years of traveling the world in search of solutions.

Their journey opened their world to breakthrough therapies not available in Asia, seperti Intensive Model of Therapy (Intensive Therapy Model) (AGAINST), Suit Therapy, Caves Medek Exercises (CME), Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), and others. Knowing that there are children like Jake in their country who deserve the opportunity to experience the care available, so they decided to sell their possessions to found WINGS and bring these therapies to other children in Southeast Asia.

The secret to WINGS' success is the framework they use; Intensive Model of Therapy (Intensive Therapy Model) (AGAINST), which takes place in blocks of time 3 week until 3 months known as ‘intensive’. Resembles a bootcamp strategy, intensive training 5 day/week and between 2-4 hours/day. Research has shown that one session of intensive therapy can provide more results than a full year of traditional therapy.

Not only do they see the incredible effectiveness of the IMOT framework, but also with the therapy they provide, has helped many children with moderate to severe conditions (as cerebral palsy and spinal muscular atrophy). Those who have never walked before in their lives, can take their first independent steps.

“I first came to WINGS in 2018 — months after the therapy center opened. My son has a complex diagnosis known as CHARGE syndrome. He couldn't walk when he started with WINGS at the age of two. I tried wholeheartedly to find a solution so that my child could live an independent life. We attended several intensive therapies at WINGS over the past five years. Currently, My child is eight years old and can run. All thanks to the dedication of the team at WINGS. Now I have great hopes for my child, said Mrs. Ichen, mother of eight-year-old Matthew from Jakarta, Indonesia.

“The magic of WINGS lies not only in the intensive model and breakthrough therapies we offer, but also in spirit, commitment, and the experience of our highly skilled therapy team. Our therapy center focuses on treating children holistically, with respect and a strong focus on targets in a fun and motivating environment. We work on an open floor that encourages communication and social interaction between parents and between children. Our center is truly a place where hope grows and uplifts the spirits of special needs families. This was everything Jake and I needed on our trip; harapan, reception, respect, friend, and motivation,” said Judith Julia Justin, CEO and founder of WINGS.
