Staycation

Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) predicts that the government announced the Eid homecoming ban policy will affect the transportation and tourism sector this year. This policy makes people switch to spending time with Eid staycation in its territory.

Quoted from page, Tempo.co, Hariyadi Sukamdani as Chairman of PHRI revealed that there might be better conditions when talking staycation, there may be a slight increase (compared to last year),” he said, Monday (29/03/21).

Hariyadi believes that the public will be more courageous to staycation because the Covid-19 vaccination process is already underway. but, at the moment, he has not seen any significant effect related to the ban on going home with an increase in the number of staycations.

other than that, According to Hariyadi, the ban on going home this year will make conditions the same as last year's Eid holidays. As predicted, the areas that become tourist destinations will lose revenue due to the restriction policy.

This prediction is also said to be not only the hotel sector, but it will also affect other sectors, as retail, and also transportation.

Under normal conditions before the pandemic, hotels that are located in the destination of the commuting community have occupancy rates 70-90 percent during Eid holidays. Usually people who go home while traveling are likely to travel to Bandung, Solo, Malang and Yogyakarta.

“If now maybe only half,” closed Hariyadi.
