Singapore Airlines (BE) has improved its cargo handling capabilities with the addition of its temperature-controlled Envirotainer Releye RLP container.

This enables Singapore Airlines to offer air freight customers a new, technologically advanced solution for cargo that must be specially stored and refrigerated, as well as providing direct monitoring access, volume optimization for cost efficiency, and improved temperature stability.

The Envirotainer Releye RLP has been approved for use on Singapore Airlines cargo and passenger aircraft. This temperature-controlled container is powered by a rechargeable battery, and can maintain delivery integrity for more than 170 hours on a single charge.

The fully integrated live monitoring system allows customers to track and monitor various aspects of delivery conditions such as location, temperature, and humidity, and unit battery level.

These containers will enhance Singapore Airlines' capability to transport time and temperature sensitive pharmaceutical cargo, especially in major global trade routes.

Mr Chin Yau Seng, Senior Vice President Cargo SIA, deliver, “Envirotainer Releye RLP provides us with additional solutions regarding temperature stability. With this new container, coupled with our extensive global network, will bring new standards in the handling of critical pharmaceutical cargo shipments. It's on time, given the importance of safe and reliable transportation of medicines in the midst of the current pandemic.”

With the latest additions, Singapore Airlines offers a wider range of active and passive containers from a leading provider of temperature control solutions as part of its temperature stability service THRUCOOL.

The airline was recertified under IATA's CEIV Pharma program in January 2020, and achieved accreditation of the Qualified Envirotainer Provider Training and Quality Program in November 2020.

This accreditation further confirms Singapore Airlines' strict handling process for pharmaceutical cargo, in line with the highest industry standards.
