Jakarta, 4 October 2021 – Indonesia Hidden Heritage (IHH), Creative Hub to develop and promote Heritage tourism in Indonesia in collaboration with more than 50 institutions from within and outside the country hold the Indonesia Hidden Heritage Week Festival (IHHW) 2021 themed 'Revealing the Potential of Indonesian Historical Tourism' on 21-30 next October.
This theme is in line with the background of the festival, namely motivating stakeholders in the tourism sector to jointly explore the potential and promote historical tourism throughout Indonesia. Festival IHHW 2021 as well as a form of commitment to Indonesia Hidden Heritage in supporting the declaration 2021 as the year of tourism revival after the COVID-19 pandemic echoed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno at the end 2020.
“Historical and cultural values in the tourism sector need to be explored and managed properly because they can be an attraction for tourists. Effective planning and management of historical tourism will also create tourist satisfaction during and after visiting heritage tourism destinations,"said the Founder and Executive Director of Indonesia Hidden Heritage Week 2021, Nofa Farida Lestari.
Differentiation and continuous improvement efforts also need to be made to build competitive advantage and tourist loyalty. History, customs, and arts and traditions that are passed down from generation to generation can be a differentiating component in providing authentic and unique experiences to tourists.
In the midst of a pandemic like now and to comply with the government's advice to keep your distance, the festival is held online. This festival will also be opened by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and the Office of the Presidential Staff, on Thursday, 21 October 2021 and contains a series of online activities in the form of webinars entitled 'World Heritage Sites in Indonesia', virtual tour to Ombilin Coal Mining Site and Virtual Tour exploring culinary in Papua.
Festival Indonesia Hidden Heritage Week 2021 featuring various programs, namely cross-institutional talk shows for the development of various heritage tourism themes, Virtual Tour to various heritage tourist destinations, Meet and Greet with Heritage Tourism Communities in various regions, Watch selected films together, Workshop on creating and developing heritage products, Museum and Galleries Live Talks, and closed with the Heritage Tourism Development Forum and Rendevouz at Maison Weiner.
The festival targets the general public, domestic tourist community, international traveler network, international organizations and embassies, educational institution, cultural and historical organization, tourism media and hoteliers.
Through Indonesia Hidden Heritage Week 2021 It is hoped that all stakeholders in the country's tourism sector can build positive narratives to encourage the revival of historical and cultural tourism and provide economic benefits.
