Indonesian Red Cross (SMEs) present COVID-19 response services by providing transportation services from the Bluebird Group to shuttle convalescent plasma donors for free.

This humanitarian service was launched to meet the need for convalescent plasma which has experienced increased demand in recent weeks.

PMI Chairman Jusuf Kalla (JK) releasing a number of convalescent plasma shuttle transport fleets in the Covid-19 Emergency Warehouse area, South Jakarta, Monday (12/7/2021).

The service innovation, explained J.K, is the development of a Covid-19 patient shuttle service supported by Blue Bird. With the facility, JK hopes that the survivors of Covid-19 can be served optimally by donating their blood plasma.

“We have made every effort to distribute convalescent plasma. But the problem is the number of survivors who donate is small, while the demand is currently very high, in DKI alone the waiting list is in the thousands,” said JK.

As known, Convalescent plasma is given to COVID-19 patients as companion therapy. Blood plasma containing COVID-19 survivor antibodies is said to be able to help increase the patient's antibody defense against the virus.

“This is one of the effective therapies according to experts. PMI already did this (plasma donor service) based on long-standing standards. For the convalescent plasma itself since the pandemic it has been distributed 50 thousands of pockets,” clear.

PMI itself, said JK, able to process 800 blood bags in a day from 42 convalescent plasma treatment facility. However, the processing capacity has not been matched by the number of plasma donors.

“That's why we pick up the ball. So donors can request this service to be picked up and delivered to the PMI convalescent plasma donor facility, also delivered home, the mechanism will be set later,” he said.

Meanwhile, Director of PT Blue Bird Tbk Sigit Djokosoetono added that cooperation with PMI is a form of corporate social responsibility. It says, as a private party, Bluebird is committed to contributing to accelerating the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We at Bluebird Group realize that it takes the role of all parties, including the private sector, together with the government and related agencies in collaborating to support the acceleration of the handling of the pandemic,Sigit said.

Sigit also added that cooperation with PMI is part of the continuity of the Bluebird program, where is the newest Goldenbird (a subsidiary of the Bluebird Group) through the Goldenbird Special Care program, it has provided special delivery services for people who are OTG or positive for covid to go to isoman places or PCR swab places in Jakarta, and Surabaya.

"Supported by strict health operational standards, such as thorough cleaning of the fleet using disinfectant fluids before and after operations and vaccination levels 100% to the driver, We hope that Bluebird Group's services can benefit the wider community and become a mainstay of the Indonesian people, especially during these challenging times, closed Sigit.
