An island in the Caribbean called Bequia, will be made an area to enliven the trend of crypto currency and named Bitcoin Island. All transactions here will be carried out using cryptocurrency. Any purchase can be exchanged for Bitcoins, Ethereum maupun Dogecoin.
Bequia Island is usually a place to relax for Hollywood celebrities. From David Bowie to Mick Jagger. it's located 9 miles from the Caribbean. But all that is about to change once a young property developer fulfills his dream, created a crypto community on Bitcoin Island.
Launched via The Independent, Tuesday, 25 May 2021, the young developer was named Storm Gonsalves. He plans to build 39 luxury villa on the island, equivalent to a bar, shopping center, restaurant and a club. Crypto currency owners will be greeted with great joy because they can pay for anything there using Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Dogecoin on Bitcoin Island.
Not only buying services and products, cryptocurrency owners can also buy one of the luxury villas in Bitcoin. Villa with equipped two or five bedrooms. It costs around USD 1.1 million (IDR 15.7 billion) up to USD 2.3 million (IDR 33 billion).
“Bequia has always been an island for sailors. A place where you can get away from other people, without internet, much like a deserted island. But for people in my generation it's all different. They want adventure, but with superfast wifi. That's what we want to build,” said Gonsalves, old developer 29 year.
Gonsalves, who is a protégé of British media magnate Felix Dennis, claimed to have this idea inspired by the house owned by the founder of Maxim magazine. Felix's house is in Mustique which was bought from singer David Bowie.
“Later they could have lived forever here. Others may only visit once a year. When their properties are not used, we can rent it out on behalf of the owner. We will turn everything into a resort. The center of the resort is the club. In that Club we will have a restaurant, bar, sports facilities, spa, and private cinema,” said Gonsalves.
All payments there, he said, can be done in cash, using a card, or any crypto currency that is legally used. The community will rely on payment processors that have been approved by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network under the auspices of the US Treasury.
“The process will be as easy as using cash or a debit card. We will display the Digital Wallet address held. Then when the bill came, Bitcoin quotation will be valid for as long 15 minute. After the process is complete, we don't have to worry about anything,” he said.
The S-shaped island is the largest in the Grenadines. Centrally located between St. Vincent on the South and Mustique on the North.
Now the island will attract many Bitcoin enthusiasts. No wonder the island is called Bitcoin Island or Bitcoin Island.
