Traveldiva – To improve the application experience visa for Japanese visa applicants in Indonesia, The Japanese Consulate General in Surabaya collaborates with VFS Global, leading technology service provider, to launch the Japan Visa Application Center in Bali, Makassar, Field, and Surabaya. These new visa application centers provide additional services beyond the existing application centers in Jakarta.
Start date 1 April 2024, Japanese visa applicants in Indonesia can apply for a short-term visit visa, special visa, student visa, and worker visas easily at the Visa Application Center in Bali, Makassar, Field, and Surabaya. They can make an appointment online or visit the application center without an appointment (sistem first-come, first-served), so there is no need to go to Jakarta anymore.
The official inauguration of the visa application center in Surabaya was attended by Mr. Kenichi Takeyama, Consul General of Japan in Surabaya, and Mr. Kaushik Ghosh, Head – Australasia, VFS Global, on 28 March 2024, together with representatives from the Japanese Consulate General in Surabaya. Four new visa application centers in Bali, Makassar, Field, and Surabaya will start accepting visa applications 1 April 2024.
This extensive application facility is equipped with modern features and services and applicants will be assisted by trained customer service officers to assist visa applicants at every stage.

VFS Global has been a trusted partner to the Government of Japan for visa processing services since 2018 2010. The company offers visa services on behalf of Japan in nine countries through its network 25 visa application center.
VFS Global's role in the visa application process is limited to administrative duties, including collection of visa application forms, required documents according to the checklist, and carry out the biometric collection process, if needed. VFS Global has no role in the decision-making process for granting or refusing a visa. Decision making regarding granting or refusing a visa is the prerogative and responsibility of the Embassy within the Schengen coordination system.
