Traveldiva.id — Kulon Progo Regency Government, Special Region Yogyakarta, now has a disabled-friendly tour program. Named Laku Wirasa, This program requires every tour guide to be able to speak sign language and to provide Virtual Reality-based tourism services for people with disabilities. Laku Wirasa is an acronym for Disabled Friendly Tourism Kulon Progo Services.
The Kulon Progo Tourism Office held the event Grand Launching Laku Wirasa at the Kulon Progo Cultural Park Amphitheater. At the inauguration, Laku Wirasa was exhibited in a special braille reading session and VR trial of Laku Wirasa as a symbol of concern for the importance of disabled-friendly tourist destinations.

Head of the Kulon Progo Tourism Office, Joko Mursito explain, One of the services in Laku Wirasa requires all tour guides under the auspices of the Kulon Progo Tourism Office to be able to speak sign language.
“Apart from being given English language skills training, Tour guides are also equipped with sign language skills to make it easier for tourists with disabilities,” Joko said.
Technology Virtual Reality (VR) also complete this program. Collaborating with PT Vilabs Teknologi Indonesia as a technology partner, VR development aims to provide an introduction and simulation for people with disabilities before they can visit directly to tour Kulon Progo.
In the VR world, People with disabilities will be guided by Kulon Progo tourist puppet characters, namely Stupid and Naughty. These two figures will take you on a tour of tourist destinations in Kulon Progo, where there will be a red marker at each point, yellow, and green with special meaning. Red means difficult to reach. Yellow can be reached but you have to be careful and need assistance. Then green means easy to reach.
“For example, when touring via VR in Widosari, There will be red markers for the visually impaired. But the quadriplegic and deaf may be yellow or green. These signs are important as an indication of whether disabled colleagues can reach that location,” Joko explained.
He continued, Laku Wirasa is the first step to create inclusive tourism or disabled-friendly tourism in Kulon Progo. Forward, disabled-friendly tourism will also be included in the Regional Tourism Development Master Plan (IN THE RIPPER) 2025 Kulon Progo.
“We will also try to make this a Regional Regulation (Regent's Regulations), then we will include it in the Tourism Development Master Plan 2025 agar inclusive tourism can be part of our program,” clear.
