FRIDAY is the wrong time to book a train ticket to Jakarta – Yogyakarta. On weekends, car tickets are usually out of date. However, diva travelers can still find loopholes with the transit system.

The transit system is often used by travelers who run out of train tickets with direct access to the destination city. When direct access is not available, they usually order connecting train tickets. Cirebon is a transit city that can be an alternative when you run out of tickets to Yogyakarta.

Regarding Cirebon is not a big city, diva travelers can take advantage of two hours of transit time for culinary delights. The following is a list of typical Cirebon culinary delights that travelers can visit while waiting for a connecting train.

1. Empal Gentong

This is Travel Diva's favorite food. Every time on vacation at my father's house in Cirebon, Travel Diva almost everyday buys empal barrels. Yellow sauce with a mixture of beef or offal is a characteristic of empal barrel. Taste, tasteful.

Another characteristic is the use of chili powder as a spicy flavor and lime juice that makes it feel fresh. Di awal 1990-an, the seller of empal barrel around usually puts the chili powder in a bamboo container. And, This is the uniqueness of an empal barrel in the style of a mobile empal barrel seller who trades by pushing his cart into a residential area.

In Cirebon there is a legendary empal barrel that travelers must try. His name, Empal Gentong Mang Darma. This store has been around since 1948. The specialty of Empal Gentong Mang Darma is to use gentong and firewood in the cooking process until the aroma is fragrant.

2. Know Gejrot

Although many have been sold in food court in Jakarta, eating out gejrot directly in his hometown is mandatory. Diva travelers can experience the difference between tofu used in Jakarta and Cirebon. The tofu that is used to know gejrot has a stronger aroma.

Use of onions, garlic, a little brown sugar and salt and cayenne pepper which is given a little water gives a sweet taste with the aroma of raw onions quite strong. If I, one serving of tofu gejrot is never enough. Shhh, don't be surprised. Because I like it, Travel Diva usually orders two servings to eat alone.

One of the favorite gejrot tofu in Cirebon is Tahu Gejrot Pak Wardi which has been around since 1972.

3. Nasi Jamblang

Rice wrapped in teak leaves with a small portion is a typical Cirebon culinary that Travel Diva always misses. The size is about a fist. Cirebon people call it Jamblang rice.

Travel Diva's favorite side dish is tofu stew with a sweet and savory taste that permeates the inside of the tofu and chili sauce. This semur uses tofu and has a different taste from Betawi tofu stews.

Another thing that should not be left out when eating Jamblang rice is Cirebon sambal. If the other red chili sauce is crushed, Red chili for Jamblang rice, thinly sliced. This chili sauce is sweet, asin, with a calm spicy taste. Another side dish to choose from is an omelette, fried tempe, squid, patties, stews and chili tofu.

The legendary Jamblang rice in Cirebon is Nasi Jamblang Mang Dul. This is a subscription to former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Nasi Jamblang Mang Dul has been around since the 1970s and offers around 30 onion.
