North Sumatra is a province located on the island of Sumatra, It is bordered by Aceh in the north and West Sumatra and Riau in the south. This province is mainly the hometown of the Batak people, who live in the mountains and the Malays who live on the east coast. Besides that, there are also Nias tribes on the west coast of Sumatra, Mandailing, Javanese and Chinese.
Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno held a meeting with the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, Musa Rajekshah, at the Sapta Pesona Building. Here we discuss the development of tourism and the creative economy in North Sumatra. This is to stimulate the economy and create jobs, so that the welfare of the community can be increased. The potential for tourism and the creative economy in North Sumatra has enormous opportunities.
In North Sumatra, besides Lake Toba which is a super priority tourism destination, but there are many other tourist destinations that can be developed, like Bukit Lawang and Tangkahan. Bukit Lawang is included in the scope of the Gunung Leuser National Park, which is a conservation area for the endemic orangutan. So that tourists who visit can see the habitat of wild orangutans. other than that, tourists can do trekking on the edge of the forest of Gunung Leuser National Park, fishing, to camping.
At this meeting, Sandiaga Uno explained that he would fully support the development of other destinations in North Sumatra. He also supports the presence of a tourist village that can be developed. North Sumatra itself already has two of the best villages that are included in the Indonesian Tourism Village Award event (ADWI) 2021, namely Huta Tinggi Village and Tipang Village.
“Of course I really support, hopefully this will also be our economic revival that builds prosperity for the community. Building this tourist village can later be done with a travel pattern so that community base tourism is also built,"Said Sandiaga.
Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, Musa Rajekshah, expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy who is willing to provide support for the development of the tourism sector and the creative economy in North Sumatra. other than that, The government of North Sumatra intends to hold a sport tourism event, namely the World Rally Championship in 2016. 2023. Previous, North Sumatra itself had hosted the event in 1996-1997. Menparekraf said he was ready to provide facilitation and assistance regarding the organization of the event.
