Traveldiva – Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Wamenparekraf) Angela Tanoesoedibjo recently visited the Aceh Tsunami Museum. Aceh Tsunami Museum, which has stood since 26 December 2009, has become one of the important destinations for tourists visiting Aceh.
Angela Tanoesoedibjo's visit to this museum was carried out on the sidelines of PON activities, and he expressed his admiration for the museum. “I am very impressed with the Aceh Tsunami Museum. The impression I got was profound. This museum does not only commemorate natural disasters that have occurred, but also provides important education about disasters and mitigation,” said Angela on Tuesday, 10 September 2024.

Carrying the theme of Islam and local culture, This museum presents various exhibits depicting the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami in a very interactive way. Visitors can enjoy the exhibition space which is equipped with audiovisual simulations, enabling them to understand more deeply about the mechanisms by which tsunamis form and the mitigation steps that can be taken to reduce the impact of future disasters.
This museum offers more than just information; he also provides various local Acehnese handicraft souvenirs, making it an attractive place to buy special items of the region. Further, This museum functions as an educational center, with spaces specifically designed for training and education activities related to tourism and disaster mitigation.
Angela Tanoesoedibjo hopes that the Aceh Tsunami Museum will not only be an attraction for domestic tourists (wisnus) and abroad (foreign tourists), but it can also function as a forum for young people to be creative. "I hope that this museum can become a place for the younger generation to innovate and hold various tourism educational activities and training,added Angela.
During his visit, Angela was accompanied by the Deputy for Tourism Products and Activity Organisation (Events) Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Reza Fahlevi, as well as the Head of the Aceh Province Tourism Office, Almuniza Kamal. Their presence confirms the government's support for the development of history and education-based tourist destinations in Aceh.
