According to Dr. Mukti E Rahadian MARS, MPH, conceptualization of health tourism at the strategic policy level has been included in the national development document, both medium and short term. "Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno really appreciates the development of the cultural-based health tourism concept", by combining nature (nature) and culture (culture). It suits friends (preservation of cultural history) which is here. Therefore, let's collaborate to make Perkedwi and IHH as one of the new ecosystems that I hope can increase competitiveness in the tourism sector, especially in thematic destinations Indonesia medical heritage,"said the chairman of the Indonesian Travel Medicine Association, Dr. Mukti Rahadian, when giving a speech in the virtual tour “Explore the Medical Museum and Historical Hospital”.

The chairman of the Perkedwi also revealed that the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy assessed that the development of the cultural-based health tourism concept was a local wisdom with a phenomenal approach because it promoted traditional health., but in the future it will be optimal and become a mainstay for the tourism sector to bring in foreign exchange and tourists.

5 Pillars of Health Tourism Development

Indonesia's health tourism development base consists of: 5 pilar. First, medical tourism pillar. Second, fitness tour, aesthetics, Certified antiaging and herbal. Third, medical science tourism. Fourth, sports tourism that supports health. Fifth, health sector support in priority and super-priority destinations.

"People know" medical tourism as a hospital-based medical tour like Dr. Yap who provides superior services in the field of ophthalmology or eye health. But actually there are still other pillars that have not been developed and this is a novelty, new foundation, which we can package with the collaboration between Perkedwi and IHH to develop scientific medical tourism as well as historical-based traditional tours anywhere that we can emerge as a new superior service in the field of medical health tourism in Indonesia.,papar dr Mukti.

With collaboration between Perkedwi and IHH in the future, Dr. Mukti hopes that together we can change the paradigm from medical services, which has been known as hospital-based health tourism, to one based on health services 5 pillars that can be developed.

Dig for Opportunities

The history of Indonesian medicine is one of the attractive health tourism attractions to explore and can be used as material in developing interesting story telling for tourists within the scope of medical heritage that can be developed by Perkedwi and IHH.

Beginning with the long history of civilization of the Indonesian nation in the past, produce various styles and techniques of types of treatment brought by religious leaders and blend with local culture into a local wisdom owned by the Indonesian nation.

The development of health tourism based on religion and culture can be done by exploring the forms of, methods of treatment and sites in the era of the entry of Islamic-style medicine, Greek Roman, Hindu, China and Electism from America and Europe along with the spread of Christianity in Indonesia.

The head of Perkedwi, Dr. Mufti, explained that Islamic medicine was brought by Gujarat and Arab traders to Samudera Pasai in Aceh, then expand to the tip of Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Batavia, Madura, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.

Greek Roman medicine enters Sulawesi, Maluku and North Maluku. While the spread of Hinduism formed the culture of Ayurveda in Bali, Borneo, Central Java and East Java. Chinese medicine is widely adopted in Kalimantan.

The public's need for wellness tourism is very high in the "Now Age". Inside is available 6 elements that can be explored to create potential for the development of health or wellness tourism, especially on the wellness pillars, antiaging, as well as herbal medicine certified in medical science.

The Global Wellness Institute states there is 6 elements that have the potential to be developed as health tourism, namely the physical dimension, mental, spiritual, emotional, social and natural environment.

Put the heritage inside 6 The element is found in the environmental dimension. Self-fitness travelers will visit eco-related attractions that offer hiking activities, Mountain climbing, cycling, run, explore culture, nature, and volunteer programs. The tourist destinations they visit are protected forests, wIldlife reserve, cultural heritage site, ecoresort, and traditional settlements.

"This is an opportunity that we can create to increase the competitiveness of medical heritage-based tourism in the future",”Said Dr. Mukti.
