ANDREA Hirata. His name skyrocketed when releasing Laskar Pelangi in 2005. That's the first novel, but immediately makes people fall in love to become a best seller. The sale, reach over 500 thousand copies.
Laskar Pelangi was also appointed to the big screen on 2008. I am one of the readers and audience of Laskar Pelangi. That film also inspired me to retrace Laskar Pelangi.
Visiting Replica SD Muhammadiyah
The tracing was carried out by visiting a replica of the Muhammadiyah Elementary School. The original building itself has collapsed with age. This is where Lintang and his friends go to school at Film Laskar Pelangi. The location, in Gantong, East Belitung. The appearance of this school is not much different from that on the big screen. Zinc roofed and wooden walls.
When I visited there, the chairs inside the school still look solid. Diva Traveler can take pictures inside the school building. From downtown Tanjung Pandan, replica SD Laskar Pelangi can be reached in two hours or more by motorcycle or car.
The road to Gantong is smooth. Sometimes there are trucks going fast from the opposite direction. The path also went up and down. Road situations like this make Diva Traveler better be vigilant and careful, especially if you drive yourself.
Literature Lover's Museum
After Muhammadiyah Elementary School, Andrea Hirata's Word Museum is also my tourist destination while on vacation in Belitung. Both are close. This museum is easy to find because it is in front of the main road in Gantong District. The walls of the museum building are unique because they are colorful.
The Kata Museum is recommended once to be visited by Diva Traveler who likes literature. Andrea Hirata did set up the museum as a place to study literature for visitors. The photos on the walls tell a lot about the journey of literature.
In the past, the main building of the museum is the home of overweight workers during the Colonial rule. When the novel Laskar Pelangi was appointed to the big screen, the building is one of the settings in the film.
Filling Your Stomach at Mie Atep
After being satisfied, take a deep breath of Laskar Pelangi, the stomach feels rumbling. Apparently a lot of energy is used during walking around school buildings and museums. I chose to fill my stomach with Belitung's special culinary delights, My Atep. Even though Mie Atep is in Jakarta and Serpong, eating it at the original restaurant gives its own satisfaction. The location is on the roadside of Tanjung Pandan City.
Mie Atep succeeded in making my tongue sway. The combination of sweet and savory tastes really feels on the tongue. The price is also pocket friendly. Four servings of Mie Atep complete with warm oranges, not to spend a numbered red note 100 thousand rupiah. Itupun still packs rice and side dishes to be careful not to starve while at the hotel.
Well, that's the result of retiring Laskar Pelangi's tipas. I visited these tourist objects in Belitung using a rented motorbike from the hotel. Diva Traveler can do the same when traveling there. See you again next time, Diva Traveler!
