The second highest volcano in Indonesia
Located in the Rinjani National Park, Lombok, NTB, Rinjani is the second highest active volcano in Indonesia 3.726 masl after Mount Kerinci.
Mount Rinjani first erupted in the year 1848 and its last eruption to date was in 2010.
Enter the UNESCO Global Geopark list
In the year 2018, Mount Rinjani is officially a new member of the UNESCO Global Geopark which is designated as a world earth park.
Mount Rinjani has become the world's de facto geopark since NTB was appointed to host the Asia Pacific Geopark Network Symposium activities at 2019. However, the official announcement was issued in April 2018.
It is at Intersection of Wallace's Boundary
Mount Rinjani appears to be at the intersection of the Wallace line, where the flora and fauna of the Australian and Asian types meet, you know!
